ANYONE INTERESTED IN BECOMING A CHOIR MEMBER, either talk to Bethany Plissey our Choir Director or just report to the Choir Room, #16, at 11:30 a.m. Sunday mornings.

This coming Sunday, April 20, will be a Special Music Sunday at St. Mark’s. The Choir will be presenting the Cantata– Jesu, Joy and Treasure (Jesu Meine Freude) - by Dietrich Buxtehude with a small string ensemble.

 

Please welcome back Organist Mr. J. Sebastien Rogers and joining him is our new Choir Director Bethany Plissey. They replace former Director of Music David Friddle.

 



JAMES D. EWING III, 70 Iconic Dade music teacher dies at 70 An icon in Miami-Dade schools for decades, Ewing taught music to countless students, from the elementary school to the the university level.

 

DR. JAMES D. EWING HAS PASSED AWAY
(Jan. 21, 1937-Jan. 26, 2007)
I must inform all of you that at 2:50 pm, this day, Friday, January 26, Dr. James D. Ewing, our Director of Music, 70, died, while in the ICU at Doctors Hospital. His sister, Dorothy, and her husband, Geno, were at his side. At present I have no information as to any arrangements. These will be announced at we have them. Please check this website. Let us pray: "O Lord, support us all the day long of this troubled life, until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes and the busy world is ushed, the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then, in your mercy, grant us a safe lodging, nd a holy rest, and peace at the last; through Jesus Christ our Lord." Amen.
The Reverend Dr. Arnold R. Perry

Born in and raised in Philadelphia, PA., and moved to South Florida in 1969. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from a Pennsylvania State College and Master's Degree from Temple University. His PhD is from the University of Miami. Jim taught music in the public schools for 36 years and retired in June of 1998. He currently teaches part-time in the School of Music at the University of Miami, and also serves as Director of Music for St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Coral Gables.
